The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, along with special guest U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway and hosts Texas Senator Charles Perry and Texas Representative Drew Darby, have announced this year’s West Texas Legislative Summit focus will be agriculture and the 2018 Farm Bill.

The Summit, which will be held in San Angelo, will kick-off with a reception and dinner the evening of Monday, July 31, followed by a full-day of agriculture-related presentations and panel discussions on Tuesday, August 1.

The current Farm Bill, known as the Agricultural Act of 2014, is set to expire next year and requires action by Congress to continue funding existing and potentially new programs. The Farm Bill provides an estimated $489 billion in federal funding nationwide to support a variety of food and agricultural programs including crop insurance, conservation, nutrition and trade.

The reception and dinner on Monday, July 31, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fort Concho Stables, 630 South Oaks St. Early-bird registration cost is $70 per person and $85 after Monday, July 17.

The Legislative Summit will be held on Tuesday, August 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the C.J. Davidson Conference Center on the campus of Angelo State University, 1910 Rosemont Drive. Cost to attend the Summit is $130 or $150 for those registering after Monday, July 17.
