U.S. Wheat Associates held their summer board meeting July 9 to 11 in Annapolis, MD. Rodney Mosier, Texas Wheat Executive Vice President, attended the meeting along with board members Ben Scholz from Lavon, Ken Davis from Grandview, Jack Norman from Howe and David Cleavinger from Wildarado.

Multiple events filled the agenda, including committee meetings for the Joint Wheat Breeding Innovation and Joint International Trade Policy committees in partnership with the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG). Meetings were also held for the Food Aid Working Group, planning and budget committees.  

Industry updates were given throughout the meeting.  Reports on supply and demand, acreage and beginning stocks and world trade, production and outlook were presented.

Jim Perdue and Paul Green were featured as guest speakers at the meeting. Perdue is the chairman and advertising spokesman for Perdue Farms, which has been in his family since 1920. Green is a marketing consultant based out of Washington, D.C. He advises multiple companies and organizations, including North American Milers’ Association (NAMA). Green also chaired and co-chaired the North American Export Grain Association (NAEGA) Production Technology Committee.

The next U.S. Wheat Associates meetings will be held jointly with NAWG Oct. 16 to 19 in Charleston, SC.
