Wheat harvest in the valley began this week with the first loads arriving Monday. Harvest in the area is behind schedule this year due to wet, cool conditions, but the crop looks good.
Quality conditions have been good so far with 11-13 percent protein, 10.7 percent moisture and test weights from 58 pounds per bushel.
Harvest is expected to continue northward and reach the San Antonio region within the next two weeks.
