Vice President Joe Biden joined USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski in Erie, Penn., last week to announce funding for broadband initiatives and kick off the first stop of an Obama Administration “rural tour”.

The tour will take Administration officials across the country over the next few months to talk about economic development, energy, healthcare, education, infrastructure and production agriculture.

The tour also has a healthy online presence at www.ruraltour.gov, including a blog, Twitter and RSS feeds, videos and photos and other tools intended to help people follow along.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack submitted the blog’s first post Wednesday, which was cross referenced with the White House’s Briefing Room blog and described plans for the outreach.

More information is accessible through the tour blog, www.usda.gov/blog/ruraltour/; the tour Twitter feed, www.twitter.com/ruraltour; and the Web site itself, www.ruraltour.gov.
