AMARILLO – The National Wheat Foundation is accepting applications for the 2014 Wheat Industry Leaders of Tomorrow (WILOT) program, scheduled for November 15 to 20 in St. Louis, Missouri.
WILOT is an annual five-day program designed for wheat farmers looking to become more involved in the wheat industry through association and commission leadership. Participants will actively engage in workshops focusing on the structure and priorities of the wheat industry. Leadership, as well as media and lobbying training sessions will also be provided. Monsanto, sponsors of the WILOT program, will also give participants the opportunity to visit the company’s research labs and directly interact with scientists working on wheat projects.
Interested growers should review and complete the WILOT Application and include 1) a cover letter explaining how the grower learned about the leadership training program and what the grower hopes to gain from participating in the program, 2) a letter of recommendation from the grower’s state wheat association and 3) a short essay, maximum of 200 words, on a public policy issue of interest to the grower applying.
