A Texas Wheat staff member attended Mid-Tex Farm, Ranch and Garden Show in Waco on January 10-11. The show is held in conjunction with the Blackland Income Growth (BIG) Conference.
Texas Wheat provided materials including the Annual Report, Seed Book and membership applications at their booth. Hundreds of visitors visited the exhibits throughout the day, allowing Texas Wheat to catch up with producers from the area, as well as make connections with educators, students and other industry professionals.
Dr. Joe Outlaw, Regents Fellow, Professor and Extension Economist in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University and Co-Director of the Texas A&M Agricultural and Food Policy Center, gave an update during the BIG luncheon on Wednesday, January 10. He discussed the farm bill and offered insight on budget parameters and suggested changes, such as a mandatory base acre update.
The Texas Wheat Producers Board looks forward to working with the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Mid-Tex Farm, Ranch and Garden Show in the future to continue their efforts to educate consumers and strengthen relationships with producers.
