Results from the 2026 Irrigated Cool-Season Silage trial in Stephenville placed 13 of the 20 small grains varieties tested in the top-yielding group. The harvest window for this trial ranged from mid-March to early April, depending on weather conditions and crop maturity. Among the top five high-performing small grains are Titan (Triticale), WB4792 (HRW), HV23736 (Barley), Savage (Oat), and Bob Dole (HRW).

Texas Wheat annually invests in the Uniform Variety Trial program to provide unbiased comparisons of wheat varieties and small grain silage across all major growing regions, support county extension outreach efforts, and better understand the key characteristics that influence varietal performance.
