According to the Texas Crop and Weather report released May 12, 2026:
South Plains: Wheat was grazed or cut for hay and silage.
Rolling Plains: Wheat yields were expected to be below average, but grazing wheat played out in most areas.
North: Winter wheat progressed toward maturity.
Far West: Wheat and oat fields intended for hay were mostly cut and baled.
West Central: Wheat harvest began on a limited basis before rainfall delayed operations.
Coastal Bend: Wheat and oat crops failed this season.
