Amarillo Grain Elevator Workshop

The Texas High Plains Grain Elevator Workshop will be held Jan. 29 at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, 8800 Interstate 40 W. in Amarillo, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service specialist.

The meeting is set for 8 a.m.to 4:15 p.m., said Dr. Ed Bynum, AgriLife Extension entomologist in Amarillo. Registration is $50 and requested by Jan. 23. Checks and a registration form should be mailed to Ronda Fisher, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, 6500 Amarillo Blvd. W., Amarillo, Texas 79106. Make checks payable to: Tri-State Chapter of GEAPS.

Program topics and speakers include:

– Aeration, Dr. Carol Jones, Oklahoma State University agricultural engineer, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
– Dust management, Ben Kice, Kice Industries Inc., Wichita, Kansas.
– Stored grain, Jones.
– Laws and regulations, Steve Boston, Texas Department of Agriculture, Lubbock.
– Weed control, Dr. Jourdan Bell, AgriLife Extension, Amarillo.
– Worker protection standards, Brian Foote, Ag Producers Co-op, Sunray.

Continuing education units by the Texas Department of Agriculture for commercial, non-commercial and private applicator licensees are pending at this time, Bynum said.
