Farm Bill Update Meeting — McLennan and Hill Counties

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Hill and McLennan counties will be providing an educational program on the new farm bill  Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2547 Jerry Mashek Dr., in West. Dinner will be served to participants and there will be NO registration fee.

The meeting will explain general farm program provisions, covering the producer’s selection of the Price Loss Coverage (PLC), or Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC). The presentation will also cover any base and yield update options available and illustrate the data needed to complete the decision-making process. Extension Economist Dr. Jason Johnson will present information related to how producers can utilize the extension decision aid to make farm bill management choices.

All of these details can be aggregated in a decision aid tool which is available for free for agricultural producers and will be showcased at the program. The decision aid was developed by the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University. It simplifies the analysis needed to choose between the PLC and ARC programs, as well as provide insight into complementary crop insurance alternatives. Producers are encouraged to attend in order to facilitate a smooth enrollment into the farm bill program of their choice and assist in making an educated decision about their options.
