Recent sunshine and warmer temperatures have helped improve field conditions across much of the state, giving farmers an opportunity to make harvest progress ahead of the next chance of precipitation.
In the Southern High Plains, producers are seeing dryland yields as low as 5 to 6 bushels per acre, accompanied by low test weights. Irrigated acres are performing better, with yields ranging from 15 – 47 bushels per acre and test weights between 57.0 and 61.9 pounds per bushel.
Meanwhile, combines remain active in the Northern Blacklands and Panhandle, where harvest continues to progress. In the Rolling Plains and Central Texas, producers are working to finish some of their final acres for the 2026 harvest season.
