Wheat across the Panhandle continues to mature, with combines beginning to roll in some northern counties. Crop maturity remains variable across the region, but more harvest crews are expected to enter fields over the coming weeks as conditions allow. Initial yields range from 10 – 25 bushels per acre, with test weights average 58.13 pounds per bushel.
In Central Texas, recent rainfall has led to some isolated quality concerns, an issue that is relatively uncommon for the region. Reported yields are ranging from 20 – 30 bushels per acre.
Across much of the state, scattered thunderstorms and showers continue to slow harvest progress. However, intermittent stretches of sunny weather have allowed some producers to keep combines moving between rain events. Wet conditions are expected to persist through the weekend across the state.
