PRESS RELEASE: Texas Wheat Appoints Fischbacher as Executive Director

The Texas Wheat Producers Board and Association announced the appointment of Steelee Fischbacher as its Executive Director, effective Sept. 5, 2024. Fischbacher will oversee the organization’s operations and implement programs in line with the goals set by the board of directors.

Fischbacher joined Texas Wheat as Director of Communications in 2008 before transitioning to Director of Policy in 2014. She has played a key role in advancing the association’s policy initiatives and advocating for the interests of Texas wheat growers on the local, state and national levels. With over 15 years of experience, Fischbacher is well-positioned to lead the organization.

“We are pleased to welcome Steelee into this new role,” said Chet Creel, chairman of the Texas Wheat Producers Board. “She brings a deep understanding of the industry, along with a proven track record of success and dedication to the organization.”

Fischbacher was raised on a cotton farm in Meadow, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in agricultural communications from Texas Tech University. She resides on the family farm in Wildorado, Texas, with her husband and two children, where they graze wheat and raise sheep and show pigs.

“I am very honored to be selected as the new Executive Director,” said Fischbacher. “From day one, my top priority has been serving wheat farmers across the state. I look forward to partnering with our dedicated board, staff and members to uphold this tradition as we address the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Rodney Mosier, who held the position of Texas Wheat Executive Vice President since 1998, was named Executive Vice President Emeritus. He will continue to serve the organization in this role until his retirement in March 2025.
